Spine Universe Author Biography
Wolfgang Rauschning, M.D., Ph.D.
Professor Rauschnings unique slide collection details the normal anatomy of the spine, surgical approaches and a wide variety of pathological conditions such as degenerative changes, traumatic lesions, metastases, as well as surgical safeguards and complications, the functional anatomy and kinematics of the spinal joints and ligaments were also studied for physiotherapists and other manual therapy specialties.
The selection of the slides is based on the textbook chapters form The Adult Spine and Lumbosacral and Spinopelvic Fixation. The slide set Cervical Spine Injuries, Fractures and Whiplash includes a monograph comprising a comprehensive review, over 500 references and five colorillustrated journal articles (experimental studies on radiographically hidden soft tissue injuries, several posterior plating systems and clinical outcome studies in 50 whiplash patients and patients who had anterior or posterior plating).
Employing the Uppsala Cryoplaning Technique, functionally positioned and insitu frozen, specimens were cryomicrotomesectioned and photographed at submillimeter intervals, bringing up the undistorted anatomy of the spinal tissues in their natural colors and in exquisite clarity and detail.
LASERANATOMY Inc. distributes sets of carefully selected slides that are reproduced directly from the originals with special optics on highresolution film.
